PEACEFEST was an offsite fan activation at San Diego Comic Con, produced to promote HBO Max’s Peacemaker Season 2. Designed as an immersive experience rooted in the series’ 1980s glam-metal aesthetic, the three-day activation combined live entertainment, interactive character-themed spaces, exclusive merchandise, and a high level of fan engagement.
Challenge:
HBO Max wanted to create a standout activation for Peacemaker Season 2 at San Diego Comic-Con, but the show didn’t have the built-in buzz of mainstream IP like Marvel and Star Wars. We needed to entice all Comic-Con attendees to spend time inside this quirky, irreverent world that they might not otherwise seek out.
Plus, we needed to fold in features of many different show characters and brand partners in a way that would be exciting to everyone, regardless of their fandom.
Solution:
The glam rock soundtrack is one of the most iconic aspects of Peacemaker. Glam rock is high-energy, nostalgic, and widely loved among Comic-Con fans. So, we created a first-of-its-kind music festival inside the festival.
Welcome to PEACEFEST: an alternative dimension where glam rock still rocks and Peacemaker is the true hero.
Peacemaker Season 2 opens up alternative dimensions, so we made one of our own. Guests entered through a “Quantum Unfolding Chamber” into a fully realized concert experience with live bands, character-themed bars and activities, and custom Peacemaker content.
Results:
* 4,000+ attendees over three days
* 45-minute average dwell time (nearly unprecedented for Comic-Con offsites)
* 296 earned media mentions, generating 1.19 billion impressions
* 41.6K social engagements reaching 19.6 million views
