IKEA

Njut!

Agencies: Hemisphere Droit Venise

Description

Launched in September 2011, "Njut!" marked a new chapter in IKEA France’s advertising. Created by agencies Hémisphère Droit and Venise, the campaign introduced an unusual Swedish word — pronounced “nyoot” — meaning roughly “enjoy”, “have fun” or “make the most of life”. More than a tagline, Njut! was presented as a state of mind: an invitation to embrace creativity, optimism and the pleasure of everyday life.

The campaign brought this philosophy to life through a series of humorous TV films in which ordinary people transformed their homes into playgrounds for their imagination. IKEA furniture and everyday objects became props for spontaneous flights of fantasy: a family recreates an elephant ride using household items, a man turns fans into a makeshift parachute, while others escape into imaginary worlds without ever leaving their homes. The humour came from the contrast between these outrageous fantasies and the very ordinary domestic settings in which they took place.

"Njut!" was also conceived as a broader, multi-channel platform, extending beyond television into digital, print and social experiences. A dedicated website allowed consumers to discover and purchase the products featured in the films, while a “Njut Dance” competition invited people to create and share their own interpretation of the brand’s joyful philosophy. The campaign was subsequently extended in 2012, continuing to encourage consumers to use IKEA products — particularly textiles — to personalise their homes and unleash their creativity.

The campaign quickly became one of IKEA France’s most memorable advertising platforms of the period. Its combination of everyday situations, surreal humour and a distinctly optimistic tone resonated strongly with audiences: "Njut!" won the second TV prize in the 2012 Ipsos Advertising Awards, and the previously unfamiliar Swedish word became widely recognised in France within just a few months.

This professional campaign titled 'Njut!' was published in France in January, 2026. It was created for the brand: IKEA, by ad agencies: Hemisphere Droit and Venise. This 360° medium campaign is related to the House, Garden and Household Products industries and contains 17 media assets. It was submitted 3 days ago.
