Description
One of the standout stars of the recently concluded World Cup, Cape Verdean goalkeeper Vozinha stars in a campaign inviting audiences to experience the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, opening exclusively in Brazilian theaters today. The campaign marks the athlete’s growing connection with Brazilian audiences after becoming an international sensation thanks to his remarkable performance at the world’s biggest international football tournament.
Filmed in his hometown at Campo do Bitim, on the island of São Vicente, Vozinha walks alone across the pitch where he made his very first saves, reflecting on where his journey began. There, he challenges the common misconception of what it means to be a hero—someone fearless, with extraordinary powers.
“But being a hero isn’t about having powers. It’s about protecting something greater than ourselves,” says Vozinha, expressing his gratitude to everyone who has called him a hero.
He then puts on a special jersey featuring the iconic Spider-Man symbol and theme, noting that while the tournament he competed in has come to an end—and although he will forever carry the love and support he received—he is now there to introduce someone else: someone who, just like him, believes that anyone can be a hero.
“Go watch Spider-Man: Brand New Day. I can save shots, but I can’t save you from spoilers,” he jokes, encouraging audiences to head to theaters as soon as possible.
Created by agency Dojo, with support from Moshi - its creator economy division - the film was produced by local production company KS Cinema, which has followed Vozinha throughout much of his career.
Starring Tom Holland and Zendaya and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the direct sequel to Spider-Man: No Way Home. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that no longer remembers him—and struggling to watch his former friends move on without him—Peter Parker undergoes a transformation that may be beyond even his own control. Yet that very transformation could be the only thing capable of stopping a shocking new threat to the city and the people he loves: a powerful villain that no one can even see.
As a final message to fans, Vozinha leaves them with one last reminder:
“Just like in football, the biggest surprises happen when you least expect them. Until the final whistle, anything can happen.”
