Recent heartbeat-reading technology from MIT utilizes web cams to monitor the changes in blood flow to a user’s face, which are imperceptible to the naked eye, to create a web experience that then turns this approximate heartbeat into music. A video sequencer then pairs the users customized piece to footage of musicians playing their heart’s music in real-time. In other words, users add their heartbeats and find out which instrument is a match – it could be a piano, violin, or even a French horn, and their music gets incorporated into the “Heartbeat Symphony.”
