Description
In 1980, the Renault 5 Turbo was the first French production car to feature a turbocharged petrol engine, with 160 hp.
Unveiled in March 2025, Renault 5 Turbo 3E has been available for pre-order since April, ahead of its official launch in 2026.
Combining a nod to the icons of the 1980s with cutting-edge technology, this electric sports car promises to be the most powerful ever produced by Renault.
Renault and its agency Publicis Conseil unveil a film that showcases this ultimate French sports car.
In a dark and silent garage, Renault 5 Turbo 3E waits. Technicians bustle around it in a solemn, almost ritualistic atmosphere. The driver enters the scene, gets ready, then settles into the car. A metaphorical face-off between electricity and petrol then begins, symbolised by a line of fire lighting up on the ground, against which Renault 5 Turbo 3E will compete. What follows is an intense and stylised race between the high-powered electric car and this line of fire representing the combustion engine heritage.
This frantic race is accompanied by Kavinsky's track 'Nightcall'. With vocals by Angèle and orchestration by the band Phoenix, it is an 'All Star' reunion of the best French-speaking artists on the international scene, a musical backdrop that perfectly complements the film's nocturnal atmosphere.
The Start-Rec agency took particular care to craft the overall sound design, which is highly cinematic, combining depth, tension and precision.
'In this film, we see a clash between the line of fire, which embodies the mechanical fervour of the 1980s and 1990s burning oil, and the electric version that emerges like a silent flash: a frantic race between the memory of the past and the promise of a future in motion.' Arnaud Belloni, Global Marketing Director, Renault
Launched on television during the Formula 1 Grand Prix, broadcasting will begin on 19 October during the United States Grand Prix.
