CYLNDR Studios has taken home Gold at New York Festivals Advertising Awards (NYFA) inaugural NYFAI x LTX competition for their work with The Duke Lemur Center, highlighting the visual parallels between the daily rituals of humans and lemurs — brushing, playing, eating, resting — revealing an unexpected connection.
For the competition, CYLNDR Studios partnered with the Duke Lemur Center, the world leader in the study, care, and conservation of lemurs. The goal was to amplify the center’s mission, along with its core philosophy of conducting only non-invasive research on lemurs. CYLNDR Studios honors that philosophy throughout the work by utilizing AI to mitigate stress that traditional filming methods may cause the lemurs, resulting in a powerful example of ethical storytelling and how innovation and conservation can go hand in hand.
With recent federal funding cuts, the center needed a compelling video that effectively persuaded high-level donors to provide funding to continue vital research and conservation. Research on lemurs offers valuable insights into human health — including Alzheimer's disease, diabetes and even hibernation with implications for space travel
The gold-winning work “Closer Than You Think” underscores the stakes: lemurs are disappearing — and with them, knowledge that could unlock breakthroughs in how we age and survive. The work is live on social and digital as of July 10th and can be found on YouTube and the Duke Lemur Center website.
