School might teach kids grammar, U.S. history, and the Pythagorean theorem, but rarely does it instill the financial knowledge that adults need to navigate daily life. The latest campaign from creative agency HAYMAKER and family banking app Greenlight highlights how Greenlight can help parents raise financially smart kids.

Titled “Bring Your Family into the Financial Future,” the campaign addresses the universal challenge of teaching kids about money — blending humor, nostalgia, and education to contrast old-school financial practices against modern ones.

A 30-second spot, which you can view here, sits at the center of the campaign.It features a family sitting together at home; the daughter and son scroll through their Greenlight apps, proudly sharing about completing their chores, getting allowance, setting savings goals, and learning how to invest. The grandfather is astonished and reminisces, “back in our day, we used to keep our money in a mattress.” The family is then transported back in time to the grandpa’s bedroom where cash is stashed under the mattress, which turns out not to be the best way to manage your money…

The campaign also includes four 15-second spots and 06s that will run across TV and social platforms. The 15-second spots show comical flashbacks to money management in the past vs. now.

Vacuum Tube — using vacuum tubes to deposit checks vs. direct deposit using Greenlight

Payphone — using a payphone to share your location vs. Greenlight’s safety features

Crickets — never learning how to invest vs. using Greenlight to invest

Coin Jar — keeping allowance money in a jar vs. getting paid with Greenlight

The work is now live across TV and social. Past work from HAYMAKER and Greenlight includes Invest in Your Best Investment and the brand’s breakout Super Bowl Spot featuring Ty Burrell.
