Announcing your arrival during the Super Bowl demands a home worthy of the moment

Agency: Digitas

Description

Formula 1® is in the midst of its most significant transformation in decades. The 2026 season brought the most sweeping regulatory overhaul the sport has ever seen: smaller, lighter cars; a revolutionary 50-50 split between combustion and battery power; active aerodynamics replacing DRS; and a new emphasis on driver skill over mechanical grip. The sport didn't just change the rules. It reset the sport.

Into that reset stepped Cadillac Formula 1® Team. And they needed a digital presence as considered and ambitious as the team itself.

The launch moment was set: a Super Bowl advertisement - the most prestigious and valuable single-day ad spot in the world. Watched by over 130 million people, the team's livery was revealed to a global audience. Everything that followed mattered just as much as the moment itself.

The Cadillac Formula 1® Team needed a website that could absorb the weight of that announcement - and then keep delivering. A platform to document the extraordinary human challenge of building an F1® team from scratch. To introduce the drivers. To tell the technical story. To give millions of new fans a place that felt worthy of their attention.

Digitas was given just 27 days to build it.

The approach was deliberate: build the way the team builds. With obsessive attention to detail, with nothing carried over from convention, and with performance as the only acceptable standard.

The site was constructed on a MACH architecture - Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless - a technical framework that mirrors the precision engineering philosophy of the race car itself. Lightweight and modular, it was designed to perform under pressure and evolve continuously across a full season.

The Architecture:
- MACH architecture: decoupled, independently scalable - engineered for traffic spikes and long-term flexibility
- Headless CMS: editorial teams publish at race speed, without developer bottlenecks
- Cloud-native infrastructure: scales instantly to meet global audience surges
- API-first design: built for seamless integration with live race data, team content, and future expansion

Micro-animations echo Cadillac's visual language. The Cadillac matrix was used to spell out a hidden message using morse code. Scrolling transitions evoke speed. Every design decision was made with the same rigour the team applies to aerodynamic efficiency - nothing arbitrary, nothing decorative for its own sake.

The 27-day build proved that when craft and architecture are aligned, the impossible timeline becomes the standard. The platform launched without fault, absorbing the Super Bowl surge, and immediately became what it was designed to be - the permanent home of the Cadillac Formula 1® Team story.
