After graduation from Kunstschule Alsterdamm (Germany) Birger works with Peter Schmidt Group, designing for Becks, Milka and Boss.
He joins Springer&Jacoby working for Daimler, Unicef and Coke, then with founder Reinhard Springer on holistic brand building projects.
Birger leaves for Saatchi&Saatchi, Singapore. Working for Toyota, Lexus, HP, Guinness, UOB and the Singapore Navy he wins over 90 awards across all media incl. Gold at Cannes. By 2004 he’s the most awarded DM creative in Asia, ranked in the Top 100 of “Hottest Creatives in Asia” and his “TransMariner” campaign for the Singapore Navy is ranked No.4 in the world.
Birger joins JWT Vietnam as CD & Head of Art. He works for Ford, Pepsi, Miller, HSBC and Unilever. In 2007 he’s the “Hottest Creative in Vietnam”, the first judge ever to represent Vietnam at AdFest and Award, and the agency wins the first ever PMAA Gold for Vietnam and Best of Print at the national awards show.
Birger joins TBWA\Vietnam as ECD, overseeing the offices in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi. He works for Adidas, Visa, MTV, SCB and APB. One year later TBWA wins the first ever D&AD for Vietnam and is the most awarded agency in the country. Together with Joe Wong he sets up INCHI, the first awards show for the Indochina region.
Birger joins Group Edge as Group ECD, integrating their operations (Advertising/Digital/CRM) in Bangkok, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi while working on Diageo, JTI, Mead Johnson, Beiersdorf, Unilever and Samsung. He becomes a member of the advisory council of Vietnam Marcom and University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh.
Birger returns to JWT as Senior Regional CD, based in Shanghai.
Birger’s work is featured in publications around the world. He’s a member of D&AD and The Design Society, judge at London International, New York Festival, Adfest, Australian Award, Pinasthika Indonesia, DM Asia, AdStars Korea, Golden Bell Vietnam and panel chairman at Chillies Sri Lanka and Singapore Creative Circle.
