Mr. Wikipedia is back, sneering at people for not being as smart as he is. It is possible that in France this guy is wildly famous. Perhaps not so much so in the rest of the world- well the non-sailing world anyway. If this ad is directed to people in France...or sailors...then it is effective. If it is directed to the rest of the world..or people who don't sail...then it is not effective.
