One problem: There is usually no continuity in magazines, it's not a novel. I mean, you should be able to read each article seperatly - and therefore there's no importance to the continuity presented here. You can go deep in the sea, but on a magazaine everything is on the same water-level.

I kind of like it cause it plays with your fantasy about deep sea creatures. Not so much the UFO and Atlantis execution though.
