It's not about the flag color & shape, but the clock formed by chopsticks. Is it possible you missed that?

Stop Mediocrity. Start Creativity.
There are two kinds of people in the world; people who like mustangs (cool people) and people who like camaros (idiots).

That's it.

Doesn't make me wanna go there. I mean it's a clever idea for this selling point, but a lame selling point no?

Guest

Perhaps a bit obvious but still works well.

Is this from the late 80's or early 90's?

Guest

I think it's genius!

Guest

Really cool ad. Sure, the strategy is a bit weak. But, given that the brief was to communicate that you can have an early lunch at this restaurant – spot on!

Guest

Super!

Just great!

Same layout as another swedish ad from the beginning of 2000. They have just added the chop sticks.

Guest
Dzsoi's picture

Yep, they have added a new idea with the chop sticks. Have you EVER seen a clock that wasn't digital, Mr. Generation Jr.?

You dont get my point do you? They copied the basic idea idea to symbolize a jap restaurant with a red plate on a white background.
Adding chop sticks doesnt give them the moral right to steal others creative work.

Guest
Dzsoi's picture

The message is that it opens at 11 o'clock, not that the restaurant is Japanese. Chop sticks are not added, THEY are the core idea, Japenese colors are additional, the clock idea would work with other colors as well - but since it is Japanese, they went with white and red. Should they inverse (red background, white plate) just to make it different? I don't think so.

Yep. Seen it before.

Guest

The artwork is nice but I get the feeling its more like a show off for the agency itself. Doesnt make me want to eat japanese food.

Guest

Waste of time

Guest

I agree. Stealing a creative work from others is lame.

Guest

Why bother? A copy doesnt deserve place here.

Environment friendly ad. Recycled!

Guest
Guest's picture

In what way is a flag and a clock the same thing? I do not agree. I think it's a great idea! Love it!

Guest
Guest's picture

I would give it a 3 bc of the pic

Guest

Like the copy:-)

Guest

Too obvious.

Guest
Guest's picture

First watching it I really liked it. After watching the "look alike ad site" I felt betrayed. No place for copycats.

Guest
Guest's picture

Its weak. Miss the selling point.
