I really like the art.

But of course liking it doesn't mean it'll work. I would've thought photography might work better, but maybe I'm wrong. I hope I'm wrong, cos it is really nice art.

It looks nice, but what is the design communicating? Is it design for its own sake? It makes me feel a bit like Hertz is a very old fashioned company, which is not what I want in a car rental place.

If this campaign was going into the Mad Men retro edition of Newsweek, that would make sense. But you'd never buy 4 insertions in the same magazine, so I doubt that's the case.

My guess is this was done for the Mad Men edition. That's the only thing that makes sense. Beyond that, it's simply copying a retro design style. Not seeing much of a concept.
