Heroes? Really?

It looks dead. It smells dead. Yet it's moving around... That's interesting.

I probably would have gone with "troops." Maybe 1% of 1% of soldiers ever do anything truly heroic. But I'm sure "heroes" came from the client.

Any proof about the 1%? Or just stupid conjecture?

Less than 1% of US troops are awarded for valor. And only a small percentage ever engages in combat. In fact, the US Air Force is commonly referred to as the US Chair Force (even by Air Force members) due to the high number of desk jobs. A handful of soldiers do perform heroic deeds, but they are far outnumbered by those who don't. Referring to them all as heroes only dilutes the word.

i'd say you know nothing about american armed forces in general, but that would simply continue a pointless discussion.

I would say he knows more than you. But then you'd probably throw a tantrum and hurl insults rather than back up anything you've said.

You can say whatever you like. It's a free country. But I do know what I'm talking about. If you know someone in the military ask them how many people they know that have been awarded medals for valor. It's rare, which is what makes it such an honor.

you're right you can say whatever you like. but i'd say, simply joining the armed forces is heroic in my book :)

most people join for the free education and/or because there are no other decent paying jobs for kids with high school educations. not because of patriotism, nobility or anything else you may have seen on a recruitment poster.
