don't want to sound fussy but it just doesn't really work for me.

why do homeless people have these "will work for food" signs? because they don't have the means to purchase food.
not because there's no food left.

if there are no insects left this frog could work his slimy ass off, he'd starve anyway.

Good execution, although I agree with the others that there is no need to put the copy anymore. The visual can stand alone. Not to spoil the art director's crafting but the product seems so small that I can't identify / recognize what it is (considering I'm already looking at it in a full screen view). If this came across someone who wasn't introduced to / familiar with the product yet, it has totally lost its purpose.

Been done with a venus fly trap instead of a frog. Practically the same execution. Already won a Cannes Gold Lion in 2002.

Was just about to mention that. Practically a carbon copy.
Not only that, more recently (last summer), there was a print campaign for Back Flag (bug spray)
that featured advanced-stage anorexic frog, chameleon, etc. with very similar payoff line ("Menos insectos") next to logo.

I really hate saying "it's been done."
But when you've just seen someone produce a campaign for the same product and it goes on to win major industry awards, you just DO NOT even attempt to come up with an ad that 100% resembles it. This is when someone's maturity level plays a big part in his life in advertising.

If this got a recognition at Cannes Ad Fest first in 2000 and those other ads went on to win the actual awards in subsequent years, then that is VERY wrong! That changes my entire argument. That should not have ever happened at such a prestigeous show. Period.

The concept is great but i think, the art direction needs a little more eye for detail, the clearly isnt real, look at its mouth, no opening.
its a little thing to consider but i think a Real frog would be nicer.
anyway it still is a nice concept.

Good. But unoriginal. Not only in this category but many others. Ad creativity boils down to formulaic thinking. This is formula #7. Exaggerate product benefit. Unfortunately in the time of the two second attention span there is no real room for new ideas. Everything has been done. Look at Saatchi Sydney's toothpaste ads that show the toothfairy out of work. It's all the same. My first Creative Director told me there is no such thing as a new idea. Unfortunately he was right.
