Is this what advertising has come to? Jesus, people. There's more to it than getting attention.

Ads of the world is not a reference of advertising anymore. Advertising involves much more facts than only making funny or "creative" prints. And this is an example of what no one client in the world would accept for it's communication. Anyone can do what it wants, but don't call this advertising

Sorry you feel this way. We always posted controvercial ads. We're not meant to be a showcase of excellence only, but also a place to discuss ads that push the boundaries. Your comments on such ads are really important for students and junior advertising professionals.

I think the issue with these are that they're probably scam ads. Fake ads created solely to win awards. Personally, I don't care when they're posted on here. It gives people a chance to call them out. The Ford ads from last month are the perfect example. But it's lame when they show up in award books.

Do you have a policy on fake work?

Fake, ghost, student work is ok. This is not an award show. Think of AotW as a bar where we discuss stuff that's happening in our industry.

Ivan, I understand, and I see you post different kind of ads, some are better than others. What I wanted to say is that what I see here, is a lot of work of no ads. Any people who really worked for the advertising industry knows that a real ad takes much more than "oh! I have an Idea!!" And if we want students to have good examples, let's show them that talented people can make great real work. Do we want that students really think that a piece like this is what the clients will ask them to do in the future? Is really a good idea that a student or a young professional compares this piece against other asked, filtered, and payed for a client thinking that both were made in the same conditions? Let's think about this Ivan. Or let's create a specific category for this kind of things!!!. Best. Hernan

Yeah, the special category is a good idea. What shall we call it? :)

See this brazilian site. It's only about fake "funny" ads. www.desencannes.com.br

I second that. Hopefully, this thread will serve as a cautionary tale. :)

Exactly. One can learn from good AND bad as long as we have critical comments.

Of course! We can learn and improve. This is all about. If any of us posts comments here is because we are interested. I hope you really think that making a category for ads usually called as fake will be a good idea. And I think it is. I think that any award should have a category for this. The way to solve the problem of "fake ads" is making them legal giving them their space. Cheers!

Yes, shall we call it "ghosts", "conceptual" or "spec"?

I always used "spec". I used to keep a spec portfolio, back in the '90s.

The only issue I'd point out is that it could easily be mistaken for a dildo at first glance. I don't know if that was intentional to draw viewer's gaze with a phallic shape or not. It did succeed in getting me to take a second look to find out what was going on. So I would say it is successful.
However, in terms of the slogan--"For treatment of the constipation, because shit is not worth collecting."--I think that the table displayed turd ad makes more sense.

Do you know what advertising is about? It’s about selling the product. It’s about giving value to a brand.
It’s not for self-centered attention whores. It’s not a fucking playground for retarded 14 years old who giggle whenever somebody says “shit”. Or “dick” or “vagina”…
Grow up, you sophomoric turds.

This is fucking horrible. Ivan, I'm finding less and less reason to visit this site. I used to check it out on a daily basis but the standard of work has just plummeted to an all-time low.
Controversial is fine, but quality must be a consistent thread. Students and juniors will only learn horrible habits if the majority of work they'r exposed to is like this.
