Surprisingly this viral, and the four others DDB China produced to promote the VW Variant (aka the Passat) received a high hit rate on Youku (Chinese Youtube). I think the humour might be to slapstick for the Western audience but the majority of Chinese really like this kind of thing.

There's another VW viral called 'The Hammer' which just makes me cringe...but again...loved in China.

Actual numbers on Fish viral are that it's received around 17million hits. Not bad.

Ah but its all relative, China's population is around 1.3 billion so you do the math. But yeah compared to most 'western' virals not a bad hit rate at all.

I see some westerners in the credits. Perhaps they should point out to their client that this is not the brand image, whatsoever. Perhaps the worst VW ad I have ever seen, even worse than some bizarre Crispin VW ads.
