It's not from rethink, you tool.
It's a campaign called "ReThink" that's been similarly titled for the last number of years.
And also, way to name drop.

Thanks for the info, but please refrain from name calling. It's just not necessary.

Quite really.

Over 10 years ago there was a spot that came from Asia which was the same idea only executed better
A girl with nice boobs walks into an elevator and through a mall or something and all these men keep ogling her
the line says "Isn't it sad that men pay more attention to breasts than women?" and then talks about breast cancer check ups

Don't really know which agency but that was a whole lot more tastefully done and was a stronger spot IMHO

nice boos but idea is very lame.

Rethink breast cancer... into what? Some teenage boys' 'hand fuck' youtube video? Thanks 'creatives' ... I used to 'think' breast cancer was a horrible disease that can cause a truly awful, drawn out death... now I know its all about women having big bouncy boobs that exist only so I can slide my cock over them. Thanks for making me re-think what's truly important.

Wow, how great to take something serious and important like breast cancer awareness and twist it around to objectify women and make them appear slutty, shallow, and vain. Boo!

Guest
Guest's picture

It's ridiculous how breast cancer advertising has gotten to be about saving breasts than saving the lives on the women attached to them.

Interesting how familiar the tone and language used in all the previous "guest" posts is...more interesting though is the limited view. This ad is intended to provoke thought. It is certainly provocative. As a woman I do not feel it is objectifying woman, but simply addressing the demographics. How do we get males aged 20-45 interested in talking about breast cancer, how do we get them to take it seriously? Well, here is your answer and they have everyone's attention! Way to go!
This spot is funny and well-executed. You are all jealous!

LOL...I totally agree with you. this ad, good or bad has everyone talking about how serious breast cancer is and as a woman who recently went through a (benign) biopsy "whew" I can tell you that whatever gets the demographic talking about it, thinking about it, is good. you all noticed the ad, so it did its job. :) Oct is breast cancer awareness month so be aware

As an aside, this ad got a lot of extra exposure by being shown and discussed by O'Reilly on Fox News. There was a discussion on whether it was exploitive or appropriate. The two female panelists came out generally in favour of the ad.

Hear is a link to the free nationwide publicity this ad gathered by being risque. Fox loves to show flesh, usually while condemning showing flesh on TV. Here O'Reilly tries to get some condemnation going, but his two female panelists are not outraged and discuss the ad sensibly. Which puts them one up on most people here.

Choose 'culture warriors' and, then click on the big breasts. Coverage starts at about 3.30 on the clock (which counts down).

I think those condemning this ad should ask themselves 'could my ad get this kind of free publicity?'

In a piece about the campaign written for http://www.adiosbarbie.com, we got a comment from a research firm that polled viewers of the ad. According to them, results found that 60% of male viewers felt the ad was appropriate, and 62% found the controversial PSA to be offensive and inappropriate. Personally I like the ad. I don't know what everyone's got their knickers in a twist about. It got in your face and it got your attention which is the point of advertising. Love it or hate it, you'll tell your friends about it. The ad did its job.
