I'm interested in what the strategy was for this?

The proposition seems to be leveraging it towards risk taking young adults?

Otherwise, I'd suggest that it would have been a much stronger ad if they had the family clearly not liking the dangerous path, until they introduced the 'new way' as a shortcut. This is when the family cringes and takes the dangerous path because they don't want to leave their vehicle. That seems like a stronger and more clever proposition IMO.
