You do realise you linked to an envelope that consisted of a shark fin being cut off to highlight the problem of finning sharks, right? I'm hoping it's just that it's Friday and you got a bit liquored up before coming on AotW and linked to the wrong thing.

Because you wouldn't be suggesting that things that 'cut' envelopes and use 'blood' to make a statement about 'anything appropriate' are all done. Right? I hope not, because I imagine we could find thousands of ads in envelopes, thousands more that require cutting and several thousand more that actually use blood. Should advertising henceforth refrain from envelopes, executions that involve tearing/cutting and imagery that utilises blood?

I know I shouldn't have bothered with this reply but these stupid guest comments saying 'done' are my biggest pet peeve at the moment. That and people writing 'could of' or 'would of'.

Totally agree. Even if the ripping execution has been done before, it makes no difference. It's how the execution relates to the idea, and in this case it's done very well.

what is it with the lame ideas?

A better picture could have been used, you can hardly see his neck!

It's a nice idea, but the execution is a little underwhelming. It doesn't look like blood coming out of his neck. Maybe having a big knife being pulled out of his head or something would have been more impactful...

I agree that doing something like a popping out a giant knife may have been more dramatic, but this is a very nice execution of a simple idea incorporating an underused and cool technique.

I think that the red tear that appears as the invitation is opened is abstract and does acheived the desired effect.

The photo could have been higher res (might be nice to see the other invites), but Saatchi & Saatchi had to secure available hi-res images for all festival invitees, which was probably difficult.

I like it.
Good work.

I'll throw in a dissenting opinion to the naysayers. Please don't go for the dramatic and use knives or blood splatters or anything like that.

I really enjoy the idea and feel the execution is actually pretty damn well done. It's an invitation. People quite often get invitations of the sort where you tear a pull strip. This fits quite well with that and gives a twist that is appropriate for what it's advertising.

I don't have one of these to analyse and neither do you; look at the second photo of the invitation being opened. If that was my face and it was an invitation to a horrorfest, I'm pretty certain it would have impact.

Good job. It must have been a fun project to work on and you guys did well.

Why oh why did you post this done comment on the horrorfest ad rather than the fur? At least on that one it would have relevance. This is confusing the execution with the concept. Please allow us advertisers to utilise the envelope.

Yeah. Because an envelope turning bloody when ripped apart is just another envelope, right?

Throwing me out? Why?

I think it´s really good too. It´s not new, that´s all. It´s been done before. But it´s good.

Simple ideas are the best !

I agree, its a nice idea. Just an opinion, the slit throat should have been done with pictures that allow this execution, in some you cant see tha neck, those could have been done on the head, it still makes the same point and the result would have been better...but like the idea very much
