Description
Newnormal and their client, the Continental University, have developed "Music to Your Lungs", an innovative social impact project aimed at helping children with respiratory conditions strengthen their lungs in an entertaining and easy way.
To achieve this, a multidisciplinary team of doctors, engineers, and musicians from the Continental University created a 3D flute designed by the institution's Digital Manufacturing Laboratory Network (FabLab).
The result is a special flute, whose mouthpiece is characterized by having a larger cavity than the classic recorder and contains a reed inside that requires more force to emit sounds. Additionally, a team of musicians and pulmonologists converted the main respiratory strengthening exercises into a melody for a common recorder flute, so that more children can play it while making music.
